Program:
Day 1
- Meet our husky pack and get a thorough tour of the kennel after your arrival at the farm
- A welcome dinner of local specialities and introduction to the program
- The northern lights may dance across the sky while you watch from the porch of your little log cabin before the huskies serenade you a good night.
Day 2
- Learn to harness the dogs and to drive the sled, and become a musher on a guided sled dog tour through the boreal forest
- Experience lunch cooked over the campfire
- Explore the Nordic Husky Farm surroundings on your own by taking a short walk to the lake side, or relax in your cozy little cabin
- In case of interest you can try your luck at catching an arctic char or another beautiful fish with our guidance
- Enjoy home-cooked Sami inspired dinner made of wild ingredients
Day 3
- After hearty breakfast it is time for guided snowshoe hike with the huskies, searching for moose, fox and other wildlife tracks in the snow and admiring the frozen beauty around
- We'll find a shelter on the shore of a 140km long lake and make a campfire where we'll warm up with delicious meal. The coffee tastes best when cooked over the crackling fire while the huskies curl up in the snow beside and take a well-deserved rest while enjoying a frozen fish snack.
- The afternoon after our return will be relaxing and hot dinner will be served at the cozy kitchen of the husky farm.
- Before bed time let's check if the northern lights made their appearance again.
Day 4
- Today it is time for a forest walk and calming, healing experience among the boreal conifers and evergreens. This nature awareness walk is led by one of Nordic Husky Farms owners who is an experienced certified herbalist and a passionate environmentalist.
- We will learn about the healing, medicinal, nutritive and other values of the wild plants and how to receive the healing powers of Mother Nature. We will sit around a campfire on reindeer skins, prepare and enjoy tea from the forest gifts we gathered.
- Hot lunch with yet another local specialty will await you when you get back and before we continue with the workshop, where we will learn to make natural remedies such as evergreen needle body oil and more.
Day 5
- The final day offers yet another sled dog tour - this time we'll spend three hours dog mushing with our four legged friends on the lake and enjoying the stunning views of the highlands that surround it and checking tracks of the wildlife that crossed the ice, maybe just minutes before us.
- We'll take a break by the shore or at one of the many islands where we'll take care of the huskies, and while they enjoy their well-deserved snack and rest, we'll light the campfire and cook ourselves a nice wilderness lunch, before heading back on the trail and to the farm.
- Then it is time to say good bye, unless you want to stay another night and rest before your departure, or extend your winter wonderland adventure.
