4 Days in Sweden's Wild Nature
DAY 1: Into the Wild
- Arrive at Östersund airport, train or bus station where we will pick you up.
- First we head out for a meet and greet to get to know each other at a cozy café, where you can enjoy a number of freshly prepared local specialties such as sandwich with goat cheese and cloudberries, award-winning smoked arctic char wrap, or one of classical traditional Swedish pastries, accompanied by locally roasted coffee.
- The wild is calling and we'll enjoy Jämtland's famous fresh air on a walk through a Natura 2000 nature reserve and bird conservation area, where we connect with a unique environment of one of the world's largest marl fields.
There are three bird watching towers that provide great opportunity for birdwatching and photography, with a chance to spot beavers and many nesting spring birds and waders, such as the Eurasian curlew, herons, swans, lapwing, or the great snipe.
- Watch for Moose, Reindeer and even Bears on the 2 hour drive to the Nordic Husky Farm.
DAY 2: Nature's Deep Grounding, Cleansing and Healing
- We start the day with a short gentle DO-IN-YOGA session to awaken our bodies and get the energy flowing
- Breakfast prepared at our cozy kitchen with love has something for everyone: from energizing oatmeal, to scrambled eggs, smoothie with wild herbs or home-baked bread with wild berry marmalade.
- Now we are ready to answer another call of the wild. This time we head out to the large fenced meadow to meet the energetic and friendly husky pack.
the Healing Husky Circle can begin. This is a unique nature therapy session with grounding meditations that connect you not only with the husky energy, but with the wild nature around, as well as the nature within yourself.
- The profound connection with nature as well as with the inner world and your own heart opens up the door to the natural world as we continue with a nature awareness and herb walk, to expand our experience and connect with the forest, wild medicinal and edible plants and the energy of the mighty Vattudalen lake.
- Walking through the spring forest in silence, watching for signs of moose, hearing the returning cranes or swans by the nearby pond or spotting a playful squirrel in the tree tops along the shore, we learn about the powerful medicine of the evergreen trees, the conk mushrooms or the lichens, and we ethically gather some for making a tea and lunch later.
- The lake shores are full of life too, the waves wash the pebbles and the bright yellow marsh marigolds and black sedges trim the shoreline. We might see bear or moose tracks here, as this is where they come to drink the pristine water.
- A foot bath in the waters of this wild, untamed lake, fed by waterfalls and mountain rivers, is not just awakening and rejuvenating, but incredibly cleansing.
The footbath ritual is concluded by drying by the fire and massaging our feet with healing and grounding herbal oil.
- We'll prepare lunch over the fire together, using the herbs we gathered and meditate with the lake afterwards, with a cup of wild herb cleansing and energizing tea.
- Back at the farm, it is time to rest. You can nap, read a book, journal or snooze in the hammock among the trees.
- We'll prepare dinner together and finish the day in a calm and relaxing pace as we join another grounding activity: under the guidance of certified herbalist Katerina, we'll dive into the magic of wild medicinal herbs in a creative Herbal Workshop. We'll be making herbal oils and tinctures and learn about their use for good health and well-being. You will receive a small booklet with herbal recipes and can take home with you the remedies we have made.
DAY 3: Wildlife and Birdwatching on a hidden Island
- We start this day slow and easy with a hearty breakfast outside in the sun.
- If you want, you can join a short DO-IN-YOGA session to awaken and energize your body or enjoy a late and lazy morning.
- After breakfast it is time to experience the wildlife at another nature reserve, where we will get by ca 30minute car drive, while watching for moose, bears, reindeer and other wildlife that might show up in the woods along the way.
This little hidden gem offers an easy hike to two bird watching towers, a lovely beaver creek and an easy walk through the boreal forest. Here nest many waders and water-fowl, and you can hear the call of the cranes and meet different wood packers and other bird species.
We'll enjoy lunch that we packed with us, before we head back to the farm for an afternoon reflection and rest.
- Relax in the sun, journal or read a book until it is time to follow the call of the wild again. The lake offers another opportunity to deeply connect with the wild around and within, as we'll paddle silently towards little hidden islands, to watch, photograph and breathe with the WILD.
Have you ever made a campfire from driftwood on a wilderness island and sat on a wild beach surrounded by the taiga, the calls of the loons and an occasional splash of a big trout as it hunts for insects above the water? Or taken a late evening dip in the cold water that makes you feel how alive every fiber of your body is? Dinner prepared together and eaten out in the wild, in the company of just a few likeminded souls tastes extra good.
- We'll have an opportunity to photograph the dramatic late night sunset as the white nights are already upon us, and if we are lucky, we might witness the dance of the black grouse males or capercaillies by the dirt road side on the way back.
-You will sleep well tonight, and the huskies will sing you a good night serenade.
DAY 4: Closing Circle and Departure
- All good things come to an end and after breakfast it is time for a closing circle, before we head back to the civilization and take you to the airport, train or bus station in Östersund.
