We do know the feeling. And based upon many requests and inquiries about dog mushing tours, we constructed this weekend program, which will give you the touch of all - mushing, sled dog experience, some hiking, snowshoeing, some puppy love, Katerina's famous home cooking and pleasant times by the fireplace or open fire outside.

And not just that. Our Weekend Mushing Experience program combines activities of different times of the year. So regardless of the weather, the snow or the sunshine, you will still be able to enjoy your weekend adventures to the fullest.

Weekend Mushing Experience is a new program, composed to not only satisfy your mushing and sled dog tour desires, but especially it's "dryland" version gives you the exclusive insight into the daily program and routines of a sled dog racing kennel, and the seldom oportunity to witness and become a part of the preparations and training of the canine athletes for the tough upcomming races.

Because of our busy racing season, this is one of your few and rare chances to meet the huskies in action in their natural element. Your chance to feel the connection with them, and getting a hands-on experience of the commitments that we have towards these wonderful animals.

Learning how to handle a dog sled plus short sledding trip

Program:

Friday
Arrival and introduction, meeting the huskies and a short hike, powered by your favourite dog, to the local viewpoint and lake (about 8km) or instructage on how to drive a dog team, demo of equipment and sleds, plus a short test ride with a small team -- Depending on the version of the program (see above). Feeding the dogs is a unique experience, then we'll settle down to the cozyness of fireplace and have a nice relaxing evening.

Saturday:
A training trip with the racing team on the ATV or a sledding trip, driving your own team, accompanied by guides. We might have a picnic along the way. Weather permitting, one meal will be prepared on open fire. The evening will again be used for relaxation - watching movies, sled dog slideshow, reading a book or we may hold a lecture, based on interest.

Sunday
We'll get up early to squeeze in some more adventure. You will get the oportunity of driving your own dog team with a training cart, while if we have snow, we'll make one more short sledding trip or go snowshoeing on the beautiful Vattudalen lake, which offeres breath taking scenery. After quick lunch, we'll soak in some puppy love and take them for a short walk before your departure.

What's included:
accommodation, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, outdoor mushing and cooking equipment, guides, bus station pick up and drop off in Strömsund.

What's NOT included:
Travel expenses, aditional snacks and sweets (available for purchase on location), outdoor clothes, inner and outer garments, boots.

Please note: You will receive a list of recommended clothes, footwear and accessories, with your booking confirmation.

Fitness Level:
This program is suitable for adults but also grown up children (over 10-12 years of age). While it doesn't require any extra special skills, you should be fit to be able to handle a dog team, especially in the "Snowy Version".

Travel Tips:
The easiest way to get here is by airplane. You can fly from your city to Stockholm and from there to Åre/Östersund airport.
Good deals on airplane tickets: CSA, SAS, Ryan Air.
You can also come to Östersund by train, or by bus. If you choose bus, you can travel also to Strömsund.

Special tip: For this program, it is important that you book your travel schedule so your arrival is as early as possible and your departure as late as possible. You are also welcome to arrive and depart a day later, if we have the accommodation capacity available. In this case, you would be charged an aditional fee for accommodation and food.
